The world of crystals is colourful, sparkly, shimmery, historical, magical, wonderful...and utterly overwhelming when you first start.

Can you just pick an random rock from a bin of polished treasures? How (and why and when) do you cleanse a crystal? Do the different shapes mean anything? And wait, what is charging? Is that different from cleansing? How do you do THAT? And once you've got your handful of pretty things picked out and cleansed...how can you work with them? Which of these dozens of crystal books have the kind of information you want?

After reading several beginner crystal books, websites, and blogs, Megan from Tizzy's Treasures got frustrated by the gaps of information presented to new crystal enthusiasts, and worried that people would unwittingly work with their crystals in a way that damages them.

By combining her loves of history, mythology, science, and all things shiny, Megan teaches all about where to start working with crystals, including:

  • Different ways to choose crystals, and why you might find each one useful
  • The difference between cleansing, charging, and programming
  • A variety of ways to cleanse crystals (or any other magical items) that is safe for ALL stones and metals
  • Examples of charging and programming
  • Ways you can incorporate crystals into whatever sort of magical life you lead

Whether you're hesitant to start working with crystals because you don't know where to start, or you've been picking up tips from all over, or working intuitively, you'll get a solid base of information on how to choose, care for, and work with your crystals in ways that will preserve their beauty.

All attendees will receive a folder of handouts of the class material, and a list of recommended books, websites, and trusted online crystal sellers.

(Note: This class was previously called Crystal Basics; if you have taken that class in the past, this one will be very similar.)

HOUSEKEEPING
1) We're still having issues with map apps sending folks to our old location instead of our current one. We've found if you enter our address (7033 104 street NW) instead of our store name, you're more likely to get directions to our current spot.
2) Tickets are available online until 11:59pm on Wednesday, July 2nd. Refunds are available up to 7 days before the event. Eventbrite fees are not refundable.
3) Tickets for this event are only available on this Eventbrite listing. Anyone offering tickets via any other medium is probably trying to scam you.

Frequently asked questions

Where can I park?

There is FREE 90-minute parking in the lot in front of our store. There are also a few spots nearby that are free with no time limit. (If you buy a ticket, your day-of reminder email will include directions on how to find these spots.)

I don't drive. Is it easy to bus to your location?

It sure is! We're about two blocks south of Whyte Ave and 104th street (aka Pride Corner). There are several routes that run along this stretch of Whyte, as well as a couple of routes that run along 104th street.

I'm at the location with the big, blue awnings, but no one's here. Help?!

Oops, you're at our old location! But don't fret, as you're not far away. Head east about half a block, cross 104th street, and turn north into the parking lot of the shopping complex there. We're at the northern-most end of that complex, next to Crave Cupcakes.

Do I need to bring anything for this class?

It's not necessary, but some folks like bringing stuff for note-taking (but if you forget, Megan has extra pens!)
