Brampton Arts Organization (BAO)'s Newcomer Creative Exchange program is for newcomer artists, creatives, or cultural workers looking to continue their arts and culture careers in Canada. The program creates a space for these Brampton-based newcomers to gather, network, create, and learn together in a welcoming and supportive environment.

For our fifth Newcomer Creative Exchange session, we will be taking a tour of Bovaird House and documenting our experience through photography.

Bovaird House is one of Brampton's most prominent historical homes. Built in 1852, the classic farmhouse is now a museum dedicated to showcasing Brampton’s history. Beginning in the early 1990s, the museum was developed by ‘Friends of Historic Bovaird House’ a group of volunteers who continue to maintain and operate the museum.

Following the tour, we will take part in a photography workshop with Brampton-based photographer, Herman Custodio. Participants are encouraged to bring their own camera, phone or tablet to use during the workshop.

This session and all Newcomer Creative Exchange sessions are free for Brampton residents.

Organized by

The Brampton Arts Organization is a registered non-profit that champions Brampton’s diverse arts, culture and creative industries and advocates for the #BramptonArtist. We work to build a thriving, confident, valued, and empowered creative scene by offering a range of programs, services and resources. In this, BAO is a key partner in fulfilling the City of Brampton’s strategic vision and Culture Master Plan.

Throughout the year, we offer free in-person and virtual programming for all creative disciplines. These programs focus on helping artists build and professionalize their practices. We also create opportunities for artists to show their work through regular calls. In addition to these programs for individual creatives, we offer programs for Brampton-based creative businesses and arts and culture organizations.
